Who is Tom Beckett?
Tom Beckett is the editor of EveryCalc and the name behind the blog. He is responsible for the numbers on the site: the calculators, the figures quoted in guides and blog posts, and the corrections when those figures change.

What the editor does
Every calculator and figure on EveryCalc is checked against primary sources before it is published. Those sources are the agencies and offices that set the numbers in the first place: the Social Security Administration (SSA), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS), and the General Services Administration (GSA).
When a source changes, the site changes with it, and corrections are made in the open. Our data methodology and sources page documents where the numbers come from, how often they are updated, and how each calculator is verified before it ships.
Writing on EveryCalc
The byline on the EveryCalc blog is Tom Beckett. Blog posts work published figures in dollars, show the math behind them, and link to the calculators that let you run your own numbers.
